Officer's service dress cap : Flight Lieutenant R A Wheeler, Royal Australian Air Force
Blue wool twill officer's peaked cap with black mohair band, and officer's gold bullion embroidered badge. The body of the cap is fitted with a cotton khaki cover, secured with a hook and eye. Interior retains leather sweat band and red plastic lining, under which manufacturer's details appear. Another small label is stuck above maker's label, stating 'CAP & REGALIA LIMITED / 54 SIMCOE ST ONTARIO / CANADA'. Impressed into the leather sweat band is 'MUIR CAP CO'. Cotton cover is marked on inside in pencil '6 7/8' and 'R.A. WHEELER'.
Associated with the service of 402833 Flight Lieutenant Robert Alan Wheeler, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Wheeler was born on 15 August 1914 and enlisted into the RAAF on 26 April 1942. Wheeler was discharged 5 July 1945.
