Description
2/6957 Corporal Barry Stokes, of Hornsby, NSW, (foreground), 5/1253 Craftsman (Cfn) Nev Johnston of Fremantle, WA, (background) and 2/6310 Cfn Fred Ommundson of Mosman, NSW, (back), all members of the Light Aid Detachment, attached to B Troop, 105th Field Battery, who are pressure testing the recuperator and buffer mechanisms on a QF 25 Pounder field gun, in preparation for the troops first strike against the Communist hideouts in the jungle clad hills of Kedah. Another QF 25 Pounder field gun sits on it's turntable in the background. On the night of the 1st and 2nd January 1956 these QF 25 Pounder guns were the first, since 1945 to fire in anger at an enemy.
