Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Sir Henry Wells, KBE, CB, DSO, Chief of the General Staff Australian Army (third from left) inspecting men from Support Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) at their Battalion Headquarters in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. Lt Gen Wells is escorted by the Guard Commander, 2/4042 Captain Geoff Lucas, of Sydney NSW. The Guard Second in Command is 235080 Lieutenant Robert (Bob) Fletcher (far left). Identified in the front rank are: 3/2358 Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Walter Robert Everett (far right); and Private Jack Hedges (third from the right). Identified in the second rank of soldiers is 1/4010 Corporal (Cpl) Charles (Charlie) Mene, an indigenous serviceman from the Torres Strait. A small Jack Russell dog is sitting to attention next to Cpl Mene but faces the wrong way. SSgt Everett and Cpl Mene served previously in the Second World War and Korean War, where Cpl Mene was awarded the Military Medal.
