3/7034 Lieutenant David Tonge, of Perth, WA (right), Commander, 10 Platoon (10 Pl), D Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), confers with an unknown Sakai guide (left) who has been assisting the platoon to track a group of Communist terrorists. Acting on information received from informants, the platoon has found some Communist camps and dumps of hoarded food which resulted in a 12 day chase of the terrorists through the jungle of Perak. Now, as the Platoon runs short of supplies and fresh man power in the mountains behind Sungei Siput, they await re-supply from a group of RAF Bristol 171 Sycamore helicopters. The platoon is camped on the fringe of a small landing zone (LZ) which was cleared by hand by members of the Platoon.
