Eddison, W H Mrs (nee Mills)
Collection relating to Mrs W H Eddison (nee Mills), of Canberra, First World War, Second World War and Korean War. Collection comprises three letters. One is written by Mrs W H Eddison to her son, NX60320 Private Jack Osbaldeston Eddison, 2/20 Australian Infantry Battalion, in 1942, who was taken prisoner in Singapore. The second letter is written by Mrs W H Eddison to her daughter Marion Douglas, who was living in the Belgian Congo, in 1953. The third letter is written to W H Eddison from Pioneer Bert R Mills, 71 Field Company, Indian Expeditionary Force "D", during the First World War. Also included are four photos, including one of Jack Eddison's grave, an Australian Military Forces communication regarding Jack Eddison, and mementos.
Mrs Eddison's letters are written in stylized handwriting. Her letters give insights into life in Canberra whilst under Japanese threat in 1942 and also towards the end of the Korean War. Bert Mill's letter details conditions in El Amara, Egypt, during the First World War. Jack Eddison died as a Japanese prisoner of war in 1943.
