Description

Outdoor portrait of 633 Trooper (Tpr) Martin Dominick O’Donoghue, 1st Reinforcements, 8th Light Horse Regiment, of Kamarooka, Vic, holding a rifle and standing beside a tent in camp, possibly Broadmeadows. Tpr O’Donoghue enlisted on 9 September 1914 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Runic on 25 February 1915. He participated in the famous charge on 8 August at Lone Pine in which all of his friends died. Tpr O’Donoghue was wounded at Gallipoli and died of Septicaemia at 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, on 26 December 1915, aged 20 years.
