Portrait of 415132 Robert Ingersole Gates from North Perth, Western Australia (WA) who participated in No. 18 Course 4 SFTS (Service Flying Training School) pilots course at Pearce Aerodrome, Cunderdin, Geraldton, WA, in 1941. He enlisted in the RAAF on 21 July 1941, was promoted to Flight Sergeant and was killed in a flying battle over North West Europe on 29 June 1943 while flying with 467 Squadron RAAF.
