Padre's batman, 2900201 Private (Pte) M K (Michael) Trad, of Nimmitabel, NSW, does a little spade work in Korea. Pte Trad, who is 23 years old, is a member of Headquarters Platoon, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, (1RAR). His current job is assisting Father E Phillips , 1RAR's Roman Catholic Padre. Pte Trad has been in the army for three years, and has spent the past year in Korea. The deep trench he is digging around the Padre Phillip's tent is an essential adjunct to tented living in this part of the world. The torrential rains of the approaching 'wet', fill and overflow anything shallower. before joining the army, Pte Trad was an axeman at Guthega Creek timber stands. Apart from gardening his main hobby is fishing, and the nearby Imjin River provides him with many pleasant hours of relaxation.
