Looking more sweep than snowy, 27843 Private (Pte) Eric George 'Snowy' Cole of Greenridge, Casino, NSW, gets on with the job of cleaning the soot out of a 'choofer' in Korea. Pte Cole is serving with A Company, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), at present on duty in the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) between the opposing forces in Korea. He has been made 'choofer' mechanic for the company. 'Choofer' is the name for all of the various types of petrol stoves used to keep living quarters warm in the present sub-zero temperatures. Before he joined the army Pte Cole was a fireman with the NSW Government Railways. He was a keen member of the Greenridge tennis and cricket clubs.
