Big Queenslander, 12590 Corporal (Cpl) Thomas John Kenny of Babinda, Qld and the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), leads an Australian patrol into the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) which separates the Communist (North Korean and Chinese) forces from the United Nations troops on the Korean truce line. The rest of the patrol consists of Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Bill Boughie of Chesire, England; 35368 Private (Pte) Leslie James (Les) Chapman of Caulfield, Vic; 13433 Pte Elliot Samuel (Sammy) Lifu of Cairns, Qld; 28314 Pte Keith Stanley Fields of Bronte, NSW; while 34524 L Cpl William Bernard (Bill) Everon of Richmond, Vic, brings up the rear. An unidentified soldier stands at the left and watches the patrol pass by.
