Description
An Australian patrol ploughs through muddy water and the head high grass of an abandoned paddy field in the middle of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on the Korean truce line. Leading the patrol is 34524 Corporal Wiliam (Bill) Bernard Everon, of A Company, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR). Patrolmen must wear American type Military Police (MP) helmets and armbands when they enter the DMZ, which separates the Communists (North Koreans and Chinese) from the United Nations forces in the truce line. This series of photographs (MELJ1049 to MELJ1054) is the first to be taken inside the Commonwealth sector of the DMZ.
