Studio portrait of 2937 Private (Pte) David John Morgan, 60th Battalion, of Kogarah, NSW. Pte Morgan worked as an engineer prior to enlisting on 25 September 1916. He embarked for service overseas with the 7th Reinforcements, 60th Battalion, aboard HMAT Afric (A19) from Sydney on 3 November 1916. Whilst serving in France, Pte Morgan took part in the 60th Battalion's legendary counter-attack at Villers-Bretonneux, launched on 24 April 1918. Several days later Pte Morgan was admitted to the 4th Casualty Clearing Station suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He died of his wounds the following day, on 27th April 1918, aged 23 years.
