Description

After a visit to town in Kure, Japan, Sergeant (Sgt) Athol Hasler, of Lindisfarne, Tas, pays off the driver of one of Kure's mini-taxis. Sgt Hasler is the Labour Office Supervisor at the Base Signals Regiment, Headquarters, British Commonwealth Forces, and has been in Japan for thirteen months. During the last two years of the Second World War he served with the 40th Battalion in Darwin and later with the occupational force in Timor. After a term in civilian life he rejoined the army in 1952.
