An explanation of the Bofors anti-aircraft gun is being given to Corporal (Cpl) Ross Bennett, of Melbourne, Vic, by Able Seaman (AB) Graham 'Hops' Hopper, of Grange, Qld, during a get together by the Army and the Navy on board the Australian battle class destroyer HMAS Tobruk, at Kure, Japan on her visit there. AB Mervyn Hart, of Adelaide, SA, is seated sighting the gun. Cpl Bennett has been in Japan for over sixteen months, and works a the British Commonwealth Signals Regiment, Kure, Japan. AB Hopper has served two of his six years enlistment in the Navy and his duties on board include radar operating. AB Mervyn Hart is the bosun's yeoman. His work includes wire and rope rigging and splicing. he expects to go into customs service in twelve months time on completion of fifteen years service with the navy.
