Technical Officer of Britcom Broadcasting Unit, Kure, Japan, Captain (Capt) R J O'Brien (left), of Toowoomba, Qld, and of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals (RA Sig), discusses technical details with duty radio announcer, 1400484 Sergeant (Sgt) William Lindsay Hartley, of Brisbane, Qld, and of the Royal Australian Army Service Corps (RAASC). Capt O'Brien has been in the army for twenty years. Sgt Hartley has been with the Unit for one year and previously served with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) in Korea. As a civilian he worked for radio station 4KQ in Brisbane, Qld. The Britcom Broadcasting Unit, which began as Amenities Radio Broadcasting Unit in 1946, will close down on 15 August 1956.
