Studio portrait of 1092 Private (Pte) Rupert Milton Cross, D Company, 34th Battalion, of Sparkes' Creek via Scone, NSW. Cpl Cross enlisted on 1 February 1916 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Hororata on 2 May 1916. He was promoted to Corporal (Cpl) on 9 October 1917. Cpl Cross was killed in action on 12 October 1917 at Passchendaele, Belgium, aged 19 years.
