Commando Association lapel badge : C W Seton
White metal and green enamelled membership badge for the Commando Association. The badge takes the form of a double green diamond edged with silver. One diamond bears a silver letter 'M' and the other a silver 'Z'. Between the diamonds is a down pointed dagger. Above are two black and silver scrolls with the words 'COMMANDO ASSOCIATION'. There is an engraved serial number on the reverse 'Q109'.
This badge is associated with Lieutenant NX91635 Carden Wyndham Seton, who served in the Second World War as a coastwatcher for the Allied Intelligence Bureau on the island of Choiseul in the British Solomons, on New Britain and Bougainville. Lieutenant Seton was born on 14 July 1905 at Glen Innes, NSW. He enlisted intot he Second AIF on 9 March 1942. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1943 for 'fearless example and skill with Allied Intelligence'. Lieutenant Seton was discharged on 8 December 1945.
