Description

Land Rover 1/4 ton 4 x 4 truck, modified to carry a M40A1 106mm recoilless rifle, which is accessioned as REL/19355. The Land Rover's Australian Military Forces registration number is 111 613.

History / Summary

The modified Land Rover with 106mm RCL was developed in 1960. A total of 69 Series 2 and 2A vehicles were converted and used to equip the anti-tank troops of the RAAC and later the anti-armour platoon of infantry regiments. This type was used in Vietnam by Australian forces. The Series 2 entered service on 11 February 1964 and the Series 2A on 8 July 1966. These vehicles were withdrawn from service in the 1990's.
