An unidentified Sister of the Australian Army Nursing Service stand at the wicket holding a cricket bat. The wicket keeper, possibly a convalescent Australian soldier, waits, along with the small group of spectators, for play to continue. In May 1915, the photographer, 313 Private Joseph MacMaster, 2nd Battalion, was admitted to Hospital in Egypt suffering from a gunshot wound and in July 1915 was transferred to convalescent hospital .
