British aircraft fabric with painted national roundel.
Description
Piece of aircraft linen fabric (38 X 45-cm) recovered from a British aircraft "brought down before our trenches". The fabric is painted P.C.10 (khaki) and bears a painted blue/white/red roundel (40-cm diameter). The size of the roundel indicates that it was probably from the fuselage of the aircraft.
History / Summary
The aircraft type from which this fabric came is unknown, however, it seems likely to have been part of the fuselage. The roundel indicates that it was a British aircraft.
