Studio portrait of 4840 Private (Pte) Reginald Pike, 15th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion, of Petersham, NSW. Prior to enlisting on 15 September 1915 in the AIF, he served with the 31st Infantry, Citizens Military Forces. Pte Pike embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Star of England on 8 March 1916. He was killed in action on 19 July 1916 in France, whilst serving with the 53rd Battalion, aged 26 years. Note that he is dressed in the uniform of a Sergeant of the St George Rifles.
