Description
Studio portrait of 1035 Private (Pte) George Waslin, 6th Reinforcements, 7th Light Horse Regiment, of West Bank, Fishlake, England and an British soldier Abb Stolworthey. Pte Waslin enlisted on 19 January 1915, along with his three brothers. He was the only brother to sail from Sydney aboard HMAT Uganda 15 June 1915. His brother, Trooper William Waslin was killed in a trench when a stick bomb exploded at his feet on 11 November 1915 at Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey, aged 22 years. At the time of his death his three brothers were also present in the same trench and wrote to their mother about his death. Photograph taken by F Futcher, 19 Fisherton St Salisbury, England.
