Informal group portrait of flight crew of 53 Squadron, RAF Coastal Command. Identified, left to right: Dick Thornhill, RAF, English (pilot); O13705 (404916) Warrant Officer Murray Arthur May, RAAF, Australian (Wallace air gunner or Wireless Operator/Air Gunner (WOP/AG)); Jack Diamond, RAF, English (WOP/AG) and Dave Moran, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Canadian (navigator). The crew were shot down at sea just off the Frisian Islands in April 1942. They all survived and became prisoners of war at Stalag Luft 111.
