An emaciated man lies on a stretcher bed in a crowded ward at Banda Aceh public hospital. He is surrounded by the activity of medical staff, and by concerned relatives. The Indonesian province of Aceh was hit hard by the tsunami of 26 December 2004. Banda Aceh, capital of the province, became the focus of relief efforts, including the deployment of Australian military forces under Operation Sumatra Assist. Members of 1 Health Support Battalion (1HSB) worked in Banda Aceh public hospital to treat people injured in the disaster.
