Description
The H/F D/F (High Frequency, Direction Finding or 'huff duff') campsite at Truscott Base. The larger building on the right is the mess and the smaller building the cooking facilities. The roof of the generator shed can be seen behind the mess, the two SKVA generator units were powered by Ford engines and provided electricity for the H/F D/F hut and the campsite. The secret base, on the Anjo Peninsula in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia, was built in 1944 so the RAAF could launch raids on the Japanese enemy in Asia. The base was only accessible by ferry.
