Studio portrait of 5326 Lance Corporal (LCpl) William Edward Alchin, 17th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion, of Gunning, NSW. LCpl Alchin enlisted on 1 January 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic on 14 April 1916. He was killed in action on 14 March 1918, whilst serving with the 53rd Battalion in Belgium, aged 25 years.
