Description

Armed members of Charlie Company, 5/7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, (5/7 RAR), with an unidentified Army photographer with his camera (right), ready to go on patrol. Two of the company's armoured personnel carriers (APC) numbered 31 and 31A, are in the background and out of sight was the 2/2 Independent Company Memorial opened by Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser in 1999, since destroyed. This group of 21 photographs relate to the service of Captain (Capt) Gregory Michael Knowles, who completed two tours of duty, 1999 to early 2000 with Charlie Company, 5/7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, (5/7 RAR) and in 2002 with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). APC number 31 carried Capt Knowles.
