Informal portrait of 298 Private (Pte) William Maitland 'Dinkum' Innes, C Company, 2nd Battalion, of Tavistock, Condobolin, NSW, posing with a rifle outside a tent. Pte Innes enlisted on 17 August 1914 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suffolk on 18 October 1914. He received a gun shot wound at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and was sent to No 1 General Hospital in Heliopolis. He died of wounds on 16 May 1915.
