Description
Six unidentified warrant officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force, pallbearers at John Curtin's funeral, lower his coffin into the grave in Karakatta Cemetery, watched by mourners. John Curtin died on 5 July 1945, and his body was flown to Perth after lying in state in Canberra. Many thousands of mourners lined the streets of Perth to watch the funeral procession. The service was conducted by the Reverend Hector Harrison, a friend of Curtin's. John Curtin's widow Elsie stands in the front row of mourners, second from right.
