Description

Informal group portrait on an island beach in Malaya, these men are believed to be, from left to right: VX34164 Gunner Lloyd Chalker, VX35128 Gunner John Adam Grey and VX 36824 Gunner Arthur John Mumford. All three men were attached to 4 Anti Tank Regiment in Malaya and later were taken as Prisoners of War (POW) to Japan and Thailand where all three died of illness, Mumford on 14 July 1943, Grey on 9 January 1944 and Chalker on 13 June 1945.
