Studio portrait of 5773 Private (Pte) George Henry Fletcher, 15th Reinforcements, 1st Pioneer Battalion, of Cowra, NSW. Prior to enlisting in the AIF on 15 December 1917, he served with the 42nd Infantry, Citizens Military Forces. Pte Fletcher embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Osterley on 8 May 1918. He died of sickness on 31 October 1918 at Sutton Veny, England, aged 20 years. His brother, 1660 Company Quartermaster Sergeant John Kitching 'Jack' Fletcher, 56th Battalion, also served with the AIF. He returned to Australia on 8 July 1919.
