The Lockheed Hudson bomber aircraft A16-56 issued to the No 1 Squadron RAAF on 19 December 1941. This aircraft was one of six Hudsons destroyed on the ground during a strafing attack on 22 February 1942 by approximately twenty Japanese A6M Zeros at Semplak aerodrome, which was completely without anti-aircraft defences.
