Description
Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF) officer's RAAF blue peaked cap with soft pleated crown, green lined peak, black mohair band, patent leather chinstrap, up-turned brim at back and pressed metal wartime economy issue officer's badge. The cap is lined with black polished cotton and has a brown leatherette sweat band marked in ink at the back '92503 ROCHE N.C'.
History / Summary
This cap was worn by 92503 Section Officer Nancy Clare Roche during her service with the WAAAF in the Second World War. Born in Brunswick, Victoria, in 1913, Roche enlisted for service in Sydney in September 1941. She was discharged on 19 September 1946.
