Associated with the service of S/10146 Stoker I Allen Hart Johnson. Born in Taree, NSW, in 1927, Johnson was employed as a printer in Sydney when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 7 March 1945. After training as a stoker he served in the minesweeper corvettes HMAS Maryborough, Inverell and Gympie until his discharge on 6 January 1947. Most of the work carried out by these ships immediately after the end of the Second World War involved mine clearance in Australian and south west Pacific waters, especially around harbour entrances.
