Studio portrait of Harry Packett (left), and Thomas McKenzie (Tom) Hill, as Victorian Mounted Riflemen. Packett and Hill grew up together in Toongabbie, Vic. Packett’s father came from Shropshire, England to Melbourne in 1858 and later moved to Toongabbie in 1866. In 1869 the Hill family arrived from England. The families were neighbours on their respective farms at Toongabbie Creek. After the war Packett became a fine cabinet maker in Melbourne.
