55977 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) John George (George) Stirling, of Queanbeyan, NSW, is a door gunner on the No 9 Squadron, RAAF, Iroquois helicopter His job as a gunner requires him to be very alert on take off and landing when the helicopter comes into range of Vietcong (VC) small arms fire, but once they gain height, he can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of South Vietnam, with its green hills and brighter green paddy fields.
