Description

Sterling silver collar badge of the Victorian Rangers. The voided badge comprises an eight pointed star surmounted by an Imperial crown. At the centre are the stars of the Southern Cross and the motto 'PRO DEO ET PATRIA FORWARD' within a circle, surrounded by a wreath. At the base a banner with the title 'VICTORIAN RANGERS'. A pair of copper lugs are attached to the rear, where the words 'STOKES' and 'STG. SIL.' are impressed.

History / Summary

Second pattern sterling silver collar badge worn by the Victorian Rangers during the period 1900-1918. It is believed that this type of silver collar badge may have been worn on Mess Dress. The latin motto of the Victorian Rangers, 'Pro Deo et Partria' translates as 'For God and Country'.
