Studio portrait of NX72747 Private John Henry Cecil Schuhmacher with his sister Kathleen Mavis Hackett and her daughter, Lesley Patricia Hackett. A labourer of Mankhurst, NSW, he enlisted on 8 April 1941 and served with the 2/20th Battalion. He was taken prisoner of war (POW) by the Japanese and died of illness on 6 September 1943, aged 30.
