Studio portrait of 3142 Private Cyril Elliott, 55th Battalion. A railway fireman of Yass, NSW, he enlisted on 4 October 1916 and sailed with the 8th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Suevic on 11 November 1916. He was transferred to the 35th Battalion and was killed in action in Belgium on 5 October 1917. He is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
