Description
Port bow view of the Ton Class coastal minesweeper, HMAS Hawk (ex HMS Somerleyton, ex HMS Gamston). Her sister ship, HMAS Gull (ex HMS Swanston), can be seen to the left in the background. HMAS Hawk was purchased by Australia in 1961 and commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy on 18 July 1962. She was part of the 16th Minesweeping Squadron, which saw action in Indonesia between 1964 and 1966 during the Indonesian Confrontation. She was paid off on 7 January 1972.
