Group portrait of the 3rd General Service Reinforcements (Queensland), Egypt for the Light Horse recruits for 1917. Identified is 56907 Private (Pte) Frederick Coolwell (back row, second from right), an Aboriginal serviceman, of Brisbane, Qld, who enlisted on 22 May 1918 and embarked from Sydney, NSW on 10 June 1918 aboard HMAT Wiltshire. Pte Coolwell returned to Australia on 20 July 1919 and was discharged on 14 September 1919.
