Description

Australian and New Zealand soldiers play two-up on Anzac Day. They were deployed as part of the Peace Monitoring Group (PMG), which was responsible for monitoring the 1998 peace agreement between government and rebel forces in Bougainville. Other diversions were not allowed while on deployment. Many are wearing the bright yellow T-shirt and baseball cap used by the unarmed peace monitors for high visibility and ready identification. They are in a large A-frame building, a former copper storage shed known as the 'Opera House', used to house the PMG Logistic Support Team (LST) and medical facility.
