Description

RAAF Support Command made a very nice gesture to the people of Vietnam, when they sent to No 35 Squadron, RAAF, at Vung Tau, South Vietnam, a large number of parcels containing clothing and toys. The Squadron’s Commanding Officer, 11419 Wing Commander (Wing Cdr) Charles James Melchert, of Townsville, Qld, distributed clothing to needy Vietnamese during his ‘Around the Traps,’ missions of visiting Special Forces camps in the remote areas of Vietnam. Here, No 35 Squadron, RAAF, Flight Commander 38531 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) 38531 John Terence McDonnell, of East Bentleigh, Vic (left); No 35 Squadron, RAAF, typist Nguyen Thi Xuan (centre), and 218930 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Norman Henry (Norm) Lawless, of Darwin, NT, Air Force Chaplain (right), unpack the boxes before distributing the gifts.
