Description

Recently arrived in Vung Tau, South Vietnam, is a 13 member Australian Surgical Team to take over the work done by a similar Korean Team at Le Loi Hospital. The Australians, from Prince Alfred and Prince Henry Hospitals in Sydney, arrived at Vung Tau without accommodation and knowledge of the Vietnamese language. The Le Loi Hospital wards were in such a terrible state of disrepair and in need of paint that staff of the RAAF Base Support Flight at Vung Tau, offered to help on their day off to remedy the situation. The Officer Commanding the RAAF contingent Vung Tau, 33113 Group Captain (Gp Capt) Peter Frank Raw, of Ipswich, Qld, (right), helps two members of the Australian Surgical Team, Sister Jennifer James, of Manly Vale, NSW, (left) and Medical Technician Julie Cearns, of Blakehurst, NSW, (centre), raise the Australian flag over Le Loi Hospital.
