Description

Christmas came to the children of Vietnamese workers of the RAAF contingent at Vung Tau, when 200 children attended a party at the Villa Ngoc Huong as guests of the RAAF. The Church of England Padre, 218930 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Norman Henry (Norm) Lawless, of Darwin, NT, had written to the Sale-Maffra Rotary Club, Vic, asking them to organise some toys for the children. The club sent six crates full of toys to be distributed at the party. The presents also included balloons, sweets, soft drink and a cake of soap each, which is highly prized by the Vietnamese children. A small Vietnamese girl has her eye on a coloured balloon held by 57203 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Lewis James Bock, of Busselton, WA, an orderly room clerk with Base Support Flight.
