History / Summary
Cap tally worn by a sailor serving in the Royal Navy Colossus class light fleet aircraft carrier HMS Glory. The ship was commissioned in April 1945 and sent to the Pacific fleet. She provided the platform for the surrender of the Japanese South East Army and associated naval forces, made by Lieutenant General Imamura and Vice Admiral Kusaka to Lieutenant General Sturdee, commanding the 1st Australian Army. The ceremony took place off Rabaul on 6 September 1945. HMS Glory also served in the Korean War.
