M2 60 mm Mortar Barrel
Description
M2 60 mm Mortar barrel made from ordnance steel. The barrel is smoothbore in profile and has a fixed firing pin in the base of the barrel. A ball and socket arrangement that fits into the baseplate is at the breech end of the barrel. The barrel is painted olive drab. There are no markings.
History / Summary
The M2 60 mm mortar was the standard light infantry mortar for US forces in the Second World War. The mortar consists of three main components, the mortar tube, bipod and the baseplate. This mortar is complete with base plate, bipod and M4 sight clinometer.
