Informal portrait of S3613 John Farquharson, RAN, taken in early 1939 when he was serving on HMAS Australia. Farquharson has served with the RAN since the age of 13 years. He enlisted for wartime service on 8 September 1939 and served on various ships including HMAS Lismore, HMAS Swan, HMAS Vendetta and HMAS Yunnan. He was discharged on 13 May 1946 as a signalman aboard HMAS Rushcutter.
