Informal portrait of VX5802 Acting Corporal Albert Frederick Kemp, 2/7th Battalion. Kemp enlisted on 20 October 1939 in Dandenong, Victoria, and served with the 17th Brigade in the Middle East. He was killed in action in Palestine on 13 February 1942, aged 27, and is buried at Gaza British War Cemetery, Palestine. His father, VX52215 Sergeant (Sgt) Albert Edward Kemp (who had previously served during the First World War in the 6th Battalion with the service number 6800), and brother, VX52215 Private (Pte) Harold Kemp, both served in the 2/7th Battalion also.
