Description

Informal portrait of two unidentified members of 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), who have just returned from a 21 day patrol as part of Operation Shark North in the state of Perak. They are unshaven, tired and in need of a shower and hot meal. They will rest up for a few days and then recommence their patrolling operations against the Communist terrorists who are known to be active in the area. The bare chested man in the background is also unidentified. Operation Shark North was designed to restrict the availability of food by controlling its distribution from larger population centres such as towns, villages and rubber plantations, thereby cutting the insurgent forces off from their food supplies.
